This is a 1960 Canadian 10-cent silver coin — a 80% silver dime from the Queen Elizabeth II era, struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa.
The 1960 dime belongs to the classic 80% silver Canadian dime series that ran from 1920 through 1966 — one of the longest-running silver coin programs in Canadian history. These dimes are the last generation of Canadian silver coinage that circulated widely in everyday commerce before the transition to nickel in 1968, making them popular with collectors building pre-1967 Canadian silver type sets and date runs alike.
The reverse features the iconic Bluenose schooner design by Emanuel Hahn — one of the most celebrated coin designs in Canadian numismatic history, depicting the legendary racing and fishing schooner that was undefeated throughout her career and became a proud symbol of Maritime Canadian excellence. First introduced on the dime in 1937, the Bluenose design had by 1958 become a deeply familiar and beloved image to generations of Canadians, making these silver dimes some of the most nostalgic and collectible coins in the Canadian series.
