Offered is an authentic 1850 Bank of Upper Canada One Penny Token, one of the most popular bank-issued tokens from pre-Confederation Canada. Issued by the Bank of Upper Canada, these copper tokens circulated extensively throughout the Province of Canada during the mid-19th century and played an important role in everyday commerce.
This circulated example displays honest wear, natural copper patina, and surface marks consistent with its age and circulation. The obverse features the portrait of St. George slaying the dragon, while the reverse bears the inscription "Bank of Upper Canada – One Penny Token", making it a classic and highly collectible early Canadian token.
