DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
This is a 1910 Canadian 5-cent silver coin in the scarce and highly sought-after Pointed Leaves variety — one of the most important die varieties in the Edwardian Canadian series, and a must-have for serious collectors of early 20th-century Canadian coinage.
Struck in sterling silver at the Royal Mint in London, this coin bears the regal portrait of King Edward VII on the obverse — the only Canadian monarch to reign between Victoria and George V. The 1910 five-cent issue is notable for featuring two distinct reverse varieties distinguished by the shape of the maple leaves in the wreath: the common Rounded Leaves type, and the much rarer Pointed Leaves type offered here, identifiable by the sharper, more angular tips on the maple leaves surrounding the denomination. The Pointed Leaves variety was produced in far smaller quantities and commands a significant premium over its rounded counterpart in all grades.
1910 was also the final year of the Edward VII series, as the King passed away in May of that year — giving this coin added historical weight as a last-year Edwardian issue in an important variety.
