This is a remarkable 1901 Canadian Large Cent in Very Fine (VF) condition — a 125-year-old copper coin bearing the portrait of Queen Victoria, struck in the final year of her reign before her passing in January 1901. A genuinely historic piece that connects the holder directly to the Victorian era of Canadian coinage.
Struck at the Royal Mint in London, England (as all Canadian cents were at that time), this large cent features the classic "Old Veiled Head" portrait of Queen Victoria by Thomas Brock on the obverse — the aged, veiled effigy used on Canadian coinage from 1895 until the end of her reign. The reverse displays the iconic maple wreath design surrounding the denomination, a design that had graced the Canadian cent since Confederation.
In Very Fine condition, this coin shows moderate even wear across the high points with most major design details still clearly visible — the hair strands, the veil, and the maple leaf details retain good definition.
