This is a beautiful 2004 "First French Settlement — Île Sainte-Croix" commemorative 25-cent piece in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition — never circulated, with full original mint lustre and a sharp, clean strike throughout.
The "P" mint mark confirms this coin was struck at the Royal Canadian Mint's Winnipeg facility. Issued as part of the RCM's Canada's First Settlements commemorative series, this quarter marks the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the first French settlement in North America at Île Sainte-Croix (St. Croix Island) in 1604. Led by Pierre Dugua de Mons with Samuel de Champlain among the expedition, this historic colony laid the groundwork for what would eventually become Acadia and, ultimately, Canada itself. The reverse design evokes the spirit of that pioneering voyage, depicting early settlers arriving on the shores of the New World.
