DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
This 1870 Spain 10 Centimos was issued during the fascinating period of the Provisional Government, following the overthrow of Queen Isabella II in 1868. It represents an important transitional period in Spanish history before the establishment of the reign of Amadeo I.
The obverse features a detailed representation of Spain personified as a female figure, accompanied by the legend ESPAÑA. The reverse displays the denomination 10 CENTIMOS within an ornamental wreath, together with the date and identifying inscriptions of the issue.
The coin was struck in bronze and belongs to the decimal coinage system introduced in Spain in the 19th century. The Barcelona Mint was responsible for producing this denomination, making the issue an interesting representative of Spanish monetary history during a period of political transition.
