Why Buy a Certified Coin?
Grading uses the Sheldon scale from 1 to 70, where higher numbers mean better preservation. Third-party grading adds authentication and a standard grade, which helps when you can't inspect a coin in person, and it is most useful for scarce or higher-value coins.
A grade is an expert opinion, so compare coins in the same grade when you compare prices.
